I agree with you that buying "green products" is more expensive for the most part. And yes! That part about the fruit is soooooo true.

I can't help with the fruit part.....But I buy my household products from an online company that actually saves me $$ every month. You can have your cake and eat it too!! :)

While I absolutely agree on the need for us to go green, I am very skeptical that Walmart has gone green. I'm sure their PR department will tell you they have gone green, but I'd love to see the electric bill of their stores. My fear is that our companies and politicians are embracing green living because the people are buzzing about it, but there will be little results besides the hot air their publicity generates. Perfect example is Lexus. Their Hybrid SUV sounds great, but doesn't really deliver much gas savings. Car companies are buildig hybrid cars, but cutting green corners to enhance performance. What's the point of a hybrid vehicle with 255 hp. Isn't 150 hp enough if you gain another 10-15mpg?

Agreed, agreed. Unfortunately I am reminded of Al Gore saying that it usually takes something drastic before we "act." Let's hope that there's enough concern and enough common ground reached between now and election 2008 to actually prevent disaster for a change.

That storm created serious problems all along the eastern seaboard as well as colliding with a front that moved from the southeast. This caused extremly hazardous road conditions from Ohio throughout the state of Pennsylvania and further into the Northeast. Driving from Connecticut to Ohio even two days later, the National Guard had been set up in the state of Pennsylvania and drivers were stranded along Interstate 80. We have to become better prepared for the effects of Global Climate. The disaterous conditions will worsen into the future. We need leadership that addresses these matters or our nation will face dire consequences to our economy and infrastructure. Although the election in 2008 is many months away, it's important now to seek leadership that stands up and supports environmental concerns as a primary issue.

The most serious problem that the article points out is that this is only going to be the beginning. Soon, they will claim other issues involving global climate change... for example: ohh.. the tornado that hits the midwest, the blizzard that hits the Great Lakes, the hurricane along the gulf coast, and they will use this against the customer to charge increases in all of our premiums. This may become the hot-button issue that will wake up the majority of Americans that still refuse to believe in what is happening around the world. The ole-cliche, once it hits the wallets and pocketbooks, the masses will awake!
Thank you nessasarie for highlighting this article, i hope people from around the country who read Newsweek took the 5 minutes to read it.
